Frances Barkley Scholarship - 596 - 2018

Brief Description:

The Scholarship was established in 2009 and is funded as the result of a gift by Bronwyn Paterson and George Smith to the Friends of the University of Auckland (Inc). It is named after Frances Barkley, who in 1787, was the first European woman to visit British Columbia (with her husband Charles Barkley). She was quite an adventurer, and spent 8 years traveling the world, visiting and trading in remote and exotic places. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to support undergraduate Maori and Pacific students to complete a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Ecology or Marine Science.

Due to technical issues, all scholarship applications due to close at midnight on 1 November have been extended until midday (NZT) Sunday 5th of November
